“Farewell but not goodbye, beloved innovator; welcome promising leader” – these are the words of the Malatean family as the new school year begins.

The Malate Catholic School bids goodbye to Sr. Ma. Corazon P. Agoncillo, RVM as it welcomes the newly assigned directress and head of this institution for this school year in the person of Sr. Ma. Rosalina Cristina A. Asuncion, RVM. She is also known as Sister Sally for short.

Sister Cora as they usually call her, Sister Sally’s predecessor and MCS’s ‘innovator’ and revolutionary head, was newly assigned to St. Mary’s Academy in Roxas City.

Sister Cora’s much appreciated contributions to the school include the adoption of the Genyo Program, introduction of the school’s core values, renovation of both high and grade school campuses, increased participation of Malate and its students in inter-school competitions, and the addition of intensified extra and co-curricular activities, most recognizably seen through the annual intramurals and an abundance of contests and competitions inside the school.

As the previous leader bids goodbye, a promising one is appointed anew. Sister Sally was originally the head of St. Mary’s Academy Yakal in Sta. Cruz. After that, she became the head of Sta. Clara Parish School in Pasay City. Now, she is the head of one of the cluster schools under the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Manila Educational System (RCAM-ES). The schools which she leads are Ermita Catholic School (ECS), Sta. Clara Parish School (SCPS), and Malate Catholic School (MCS).

Sister Sally was officially introduced during the orientation program of the high school and grade school assembly on June 3 this year.

“I will just observe this school year,” she said in her message during the orientation program, emphasizing that she will first study the practices of the institution. According to her, she and the administration will then start their developmental endeavors based on the observations.

In the official website of MCS (www.malatecatholicschool.com), the new directress shared her message to the entire Malateans saying:We will continue to capitalize on building strong relationships with alumni, parents, students, staff and partner-communities to continue the legacy of excellence with focus on transforming learners, promoting safe environment, implementing data-driven instructional strategies to increase student performance, and providing challenging opportunities for enrichment. MCS has so many things to be proud of. Let us make this year a BETTER one.”# Jacinto Robillos
